Working with international curling legend, Roger
Schmidt in 1991, the Karlstejn Golf Resort became
the first golf course designed and built immediately
following the demise of Communism in what was then
Czechoslovakia.
Artistically shaped into the sloping hillside, most
golf holes present an unobstructed view of the Karlstejn
Castle, a majestic castle of the Czech kings of a
bygone era. The golf resort has an ideal geographical
location, bordering a National Forest overlooking
the Beroun Valley, and yet only minutes away from
Prague.
The wide rolling fairways, the boldness of the bunkering,
and the large undulating greens added a distinct flair
and combined to create a superb test of skill.
While GDS is presently concluding a third nine, to
be open in 2007, a large accommodation component is
being added, making Karlstejn the largest and most
complete golf resort in the country.
Site of previous European PGA Czech Opens and Challenge
Tour events, Karlstejn maintains its’ status
as perhaps the most prestigious golf course in the
country.
